Antigoni Manolidou received a BFA from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She lives and works in Thessaloniki and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Athens, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Vienna and Cyprus.
My work is anchored in images of urban landscapes: Residential blocks, empty industrial buildings, internal spaces of unspecified use. My aim is to transform familiar settings into internal landscapes of stillness and void. I use well defined forms and clear cut compositions which rather prohibit than allow further view. Solid structures sometimes intermingle with less specified fields of unprobability in order to emit a sense of unfamiliarity and alienation.
